4 July 2023 - Update Circular products

We at Plastiflex want to be recognized within the industry and by our stakeholders as the leading and most sustainable global manufacturer of fluid carrying solutions, of which hose systems are an integral part.

To respond to the growing needs of our customers and government regulations we are excited to offer a unique broad circular product portfolio while we will continue to increase our circular product offering. Some great examples include:

• Products based on recycled resin: the recycled resin could be either post-industry recycled or post-consumer recycled, >40% recycled resin could be added into the blend while product quality remains at the same level vs. made with 100% virgin material.
• Products based on End-of-Life vacuum cleaner hoses: >50% of repalletized resin from the end of life vacuum cleaner hoses could be added into the blend for vacuum cleaner hoses while product quality remains at the same level vs. made with 100% virgin material.
  
  

• Products based on waste fishing nets: >40% of repalletized resin from fishing nets could be added into the hose blend for industrial hose  
• Replacement of PVC: use polyolefin instead of PVC for wireflex or wireflex stretch hose. There is none PVC in the hose.
• Replacement of steel wire-reinforced PVC hoses by polyolefin based alternatives: it’s easier to recycle the hose when it’s made with full polyolefin or TPU instead of steel wire and PVC.     
• Weight reduction with higher engineering blend: hose weight can be reduced by 15-25% with higher engineering blend and hose quality level remains the same 
• Life cycle improvement on the hose solution: hose life cycle can be increased by 10%-30% with higher engineering resin and the rest quality level remains the same.

To further increase the circularity of our products we have started to measure our Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. This year, we focus on Scope 1 and 2 and will add in 2024 scope 3 emissions. Once we have quantified and identified the sources of our GHG emissions, we will have a perfect start to become second-to-none in our industry with respect to Sustainabiltity.
